| Santa Maria Golf and Country Club, Elviria |
The Costa del Sol, (referred to in Spain as The Costa del Golf) is a perfect
haven for golfers. The concentration of quality courses, the unique climate and hospitality of the local people makes the
area ideal for lovers of golf and sport in general.
Spain was selected as the first European venue for the Ryder Cup outside Britain and is
a regular venue for European Tour Golf. This section of Spanish coastline has some of the finest golfing facilities
in Europe. Santa Maria Golf, Elviria, is a very picturesque course and a good test for any
handicap. It is also very much a mid-point among the many other courses available to play along Spain's sunniest
Costa. Thus by staying here in the Los Jardines apartments you are never far from a first tee.
There are infact over 35 top quality golf courses along the coast. Whatever your
handicap, in this part of Spain, you will find a selection of golf courses to suit you and provide the perfect
challenge.
If you wish to pre-book your tee-times then simply call (or email) the golf pro-shops
direct or use a web booking service such as Tee Times Abroad (select Spain, Costa del Sol), or Golf Service Reservations.

Most golf courses in Spain offer excellent value for money as they are generally in very good condition.
Just up the hill from Santa Maria Golf is the Greenlife Golf Academy, so if you have a spare 30 minutes
then why not groove that swing! Here you will also find a beautiful nine hole couse, always in super
condition which has been designed to ensure that it is equally suited to beginners as well as
experienced players. The length of the holes ranges from 88 to 169 metres. (Remember when golfing in Spain to add
10% to convert metres to yards!). The course runs around a lake and has wonderful views to the Mediterranean
Sea. The Academy also boasts a two tier driving range, chipping and putting
areas and is fully equipped with the lastest technology.
If you fancy walking in the footsteps of the Ryder Cup stars, you can always book a round at Valderamma
(though don't forget your credit card). You may fancy also fancy a round at San Roque Golf. If you see Seve, tell
him to keep his left arm straighter and bring his right hand over a bit :-)
